Department of Infrastructure

The infrastructure department is responsible for the planned and structured maintenance of the road infrastructure, including road markings and traffic furniture, minor maintenance of government buildings, and the natural greenery in public spaces. Additionally, the department is responsible for the purchase, rental, and leasing of service vehicles as well as heavy equipment for government use.

This department is also responsible for handling claims submitted to DOW by individuals who have suffered damage to their property (vehicles) due to the condition of the road infrastructure or its design.

The sub-departments under this main department include: Infrastructure and Traffic, Landscape Management, Architectural Works, and Administration & Equipment.

Infrastructure & Traffic

The Infrastructure and Traffic department is responsible for maintaining the roads, including road markings, traffic furniture, and events. The policy of performing both minor and major maintenance will continue. Minor maintenance includes, among other things, filling potholes in asphalt roads, remarking roads, maintaining traffic control installations, and renewing traffic and street name signs.

Landscape Management

This department is responsible for maintaining public green spaces to the best possible standard. This includes pruning and mowing the existing public natural greenery, as well as green areas in city parks, squares, schools, beaches, and tourist attractions (e.g., Ayo Rock Formations and Casibari).

Construction Works

This department is responsible for minor and periodic maintenance of government and school buildings, DOW activities, government events, walking paths (pathway lighting), street and decorative lighting, and traffic lights.

Administration and Equipment

This department is responsible for the rental, leasing, and purchase of service vehicles as well as heavy equipment for government use. It also handles the maintenance of machines and the government-owned vehicle fleet, as well as the appraisal and rejection of government real estate.

In addition to these tasks, the department manages the procurement of various government supplies, such as license plates and public sales. It is also responsible for handling claims submitted to DOW by individuals who have suffered damage to their property (vehicles) due to the condition of the road infrastructure or its design.

This department also handles claims for damages to vehicles caused by falling trees or loose branches.
